However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently is power-depleted before making it back to its home base.
